Horse Trailer Safety w/ Lunch

SUNDAY APRIL 19, 2026

Be Prepared Before You Pull Out Of Your Driveway.
Horse Trailer Safety is an introductory mini-course for horse owners who may need to transport their horse to events, other locations, or during an emergency. This course will focus on the trailer and towing vehicle to ensure safety for you, your horses, and others on the road.

Instructor: Jim Tompkin
Jim was Chief Hauler for ALERT before moving to Rock Creek. His duties there included assessing readiness of potential hauler volunteers and giving seminars on pre-trip inspections and animal handling tips/procedures.

1. Is your vehicle suitable to haul your trailer? A bit about GVWR.

2. Pre-trip checks, tow vehicle and trailer

3. Tips on maneuvering and loading/hauling

The day will start at 9:00am and there will be 3 trailers for inspection, display, and learning.

Afterwards there will be a BBQ lunch (hamburgers, hot dogs) and drinks.
Come spend some time with friends, learn a few things, and have some fun.

2026 KRHC Members FREE, Non-Members $5. This includes lunch.

3-Day Groundwork & Horsemanship w/ Dustin Drader

MAY 17, 18 & 19, 2026 (long weekend)

May 16, 17, 18, 2026. Registration for the 3-day Groundwork & Horsemanship Clinic with Dustin Drader. This will be a progressive format clinic on understanding and improving general horsemanship skills both in-hand groundwork and skill in riding, including basic obstacles. Located at the Rock Creek Fairgrounds in Rock Creek, BC

Cost: $350.00 (non-members) and $300.00 (2026 KRHC members).

The clinic will be formatted with 2 groups of 6, (with 12 clinic spots available). There will be 3.5 hours of instruction each day. Groups will ride/participate twice each day, once in the morning for 2 hours and again in the afternoon for 1.5 hours.

Group A: morning 8:00-10:00 am, afternoon 1:00-2:30 pm

Group B: morning 10:00-12:00 pm, afternoon 2:30-4:00 pm

Riders will be grouped according to their skill level

Lunch will be 12-1 pm. Riders are responsible for their own food / drink.

Spots are secured once payment is received.

Dogs are not allowed at the Fair Grounds.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JUNE 27 & 28, 2026

Obstacle Practice / In-Hand & Ride

2 hour time slots will be available on Saturday & Sunday 9am to 3pm for you to come and practice In-Hand on various horse Obstacles and get help from various Club Members and the Obstacle Challenge Course Designer if needed.

AUGUST 8 & 9, 2026

Driving Clinic w/ Mahina

Aug 8 & 9, 2026. Registration for the 2-day Driving Clinic with Mahina Rose. The 2-day driving clinic will cover everything from starting a horse to drive, harness fit and vehicle fit, for all experience levels from beginner to experienced drivers already in the competition pen. You can be a single or team, tandem or more. Located at the Rock Creek Fairgrounds in Rock Creek, BC

Participants will be asked to bring their own horse and equipment, or Mahina can supply her own horse and / or equipment for an additional fee. Contact the Event Host directly.

Clinic format is 1 hour private instruction on Saturday & 1 hour private instruction Sunday. Participants can purchase additional time slots.
